Soft and Sharp

snow pods.jpg

It didn't snow much here in Seattle this year. I did wake up one morning to find grey skies and air so heavy with moisture I felt as if my clothes were soaked the minute I stepped outside. It was early and I was lucky enough to make the first footprints on the trail near my apartment. This little pod was hanging from a branch as I walked along a path freshly covered with snow. I resisted my urge to pluck it from its fragile branch and examine its contents. It looked well armed to withstand the fluffy white snow resting upon it.
